United Cargo Systems, Inc. was conceived and created to serve as the intermediary between the United States Airforce and the international airfreight market. More specifically, the company strives to help the Air Mobility Command, Air Force Reserve, and Air National Guard, to use their available aircraft during peacetime in order to enter the lucrative ACMI markets.

This process would initiate with the United States Air Force indicating what types of aircraft and routes, which are available over a designated period of time. At this point, UCS would pay the USAF a fixed rate per block hour for the right to sell the available space on the aircraft in the ACMI markets. UCS has the ability to expedite the sale while maximizing revenue by utilizing the company's unique web-site and online bidding system, which are tailored to the ACMI industry.

One hypothetical example of how this process would work is illustrated below. The USAF flies a KC10 extender three days each week between McGuire AFB in New Jersey to Ramstein AFB in Germany. The KC10 Extender's mission is to serve as an in-flight refueling tanker to aircraft, which fly between Ramstein AFB and other U.S. air force bases. However, the refueling tanker only flies at 50% capacity, and thus, there is one-half of the aircraft, which is unused duing each lap. Therefore, the USAF would sell the available space to UCS and receive a guaranteed fixed rate per block hour for the use of the available space. At this point, UCS would post the relevant information in the announcement page of its web-site. Any company interested in purchasing an ACMI contract with UCS would then bid for the right to use the space. Once one full business day goes by without a next highest bid, the current highest bidder would win the contract after finaly approval of the USAF.
